05 Aug Cypress Flower means death.
I remember when President John F. Kennedy was killed. My Daddy drove our family and some of our neighbors to Washington, D.C so that we could be there with so many others as the funeral procession came down Pennsylvania Avenue. It was the first time I ever saw my Dad cry. So many people cried because of their love for President Kennedy. So many different races, so many different faces all coming together for what seemed like something that was so far away but something we were actually right in the middle of experiencing… Civil rights. I don’t know why there are so many differences between the races, but what I do know is that we all live in the same world and breathe the same air, so why can’twe all just exist the same way. Though the Cypress Flower means death, in it’s beauty, it still grows tall in the fields amongst the others, in comparison to the way I felt sitting on the shoulders of my Dad, standing for justice.
